This article defines all beneficiary categories (A-E), their eligibility criteria, fare levels, and interline travel options. It provides detailed documentation requirements for each beneficiary group. The policy covers eligibility and nomination rules for current employees, former employees, Team Jetstar casuals, third-party contractors, and various legacy schemes (STAR, I Scheme, D Scheme).

Staff Travel Beneficiary Registration & Nominations
The following information is an excerpt from the Staff Travel Program Conditions relating to Staff Travel Beneficiary Registration and Nominations.
Procedures - Beneficiary Additions/Changes for Staff Travel
- All additions and/or changes to employee beneficiary information should be made via Staff Travel Online.
- Employees/Former Employees are responsible for uploading all copies of documentary evidence in the Staff Travel Online system to ensure the Qantas Staff Travel Office can verify all beneficiary nominations.
- Scanned images or photos of the Supporting documents are to be uploaded when registering the beneficiary.
- Documentary proof of marriage must be provided as soon as practical after marriage.
- Staff Travel will review and verify the documentation. Where clarification is required staff travel will make a request via Staff Travel Online. This may include the request for certification from a Qantas Manager or Justice of the Peace.
Note: Where an application is approved and it is found subsequently that the supporting documentation is incomplete, the approval may be withdrawn. For name changes and relationship changes, such as changing your travel companion to de-facto/spouse, upload required documentation and submit a request to Staff Travel.

Group A, E Travel Companion:
Proof of Identity documents are required to register/nominate a travel beneficiary.
Valid documents include a copy of the beneficiary’s;
- Passport (with photo); or
- Driver’s License (with photo); or
- National Identity Card (with photo); or
- Other Photo Identification displaying full name and date of birth

Domestic Partner Relationship Recognition for Staff Travel
Conditions
An employee who seeks recognition of his/her Domestic Partner relationship for staff travel purposes must ensure that his/her application meets the following criteria (refer to separate instructions below for U.S based employees):
The relationship has been maintained for a period of at least 12 months, and can be demonstrated to be of a genuine nature (similar in intention to the de facto/spouse relationship) by the submission of the following documents:
a) Statutory Declarations from both parties indicating the period of the Domestic Partner relationship
and
b) Common address documents.
The employee (and domestic partner) must support their application with a minimum one current document each and a minimum one other document each that are dated at least 12 months prior to the application.
Acceptable documents with common address include:
- Bank/Building Society joint working account letter
- Lease
- Loan approval letter
- Tax assessment/return
- Electoral card
- Driver license/car registration
- Motoring organisation membership card
- Phone/electricity/gas accounts
U.S Based employees
As an alternative to the domestic partner criteria, domestic partners may choose to register with any US state or US local government partnership registry. There is no qualifying period upon production of the Certificate of Registration of Domestic Partnership issued by any US state or US local government partnership registry.
For U.S based employees the domestic partner relationship of a parent can be registered with any US state or US local government partnership registry.
Parent's Domestic Partner Relationship
The above conditions apply when an employee seeks recognition of a parent’s domestic partner relationship.
For U.S based employees the domestic partner relationship of a parent can be registered with any U.S state or U.S local government partnership registry.
Children's Benefits in Domestic Partner Relationships
Natural children and any children for whom the Domestic Partner is legally responsible (i.e. formally adopted or foster children), who are a dependent of the employee, and who remain predominantly a permanent member of the employee's family unit may qualify for travel concessions. Birth Certificates (copies) for staff travel are required when submitting the recognition application.
Legal Spouse not eligible to travel benefits
If approval is granted to an employee’s nominated Domestic Partner then travel benefits will not apply to the employee’s legal spouse.
Current Qantas Group Employee Benefits

- Partner relationship has terminated. The termination of the Domestic Partner relationship also means that the Domestic Partner children cease to receive benefits.
The nominated Group 'A' person may be changed within the qualifying 6 months* period for points 2-5 above only.
*If the Group A Travel Companion purchases a ticket on a oneworld carrier then that beneficiary can only be changed after 12 months.
Group B Beneficiaries
Parents (Natural or step) and
Siblings (Brothers and sisters – half, step and adopted included)
The following lists situations in which an addition or change of Group `B' beneficiaries is permissible.
1. A minimum of 6 months* has elapsed since the nomination date of the Group `B' beneficiary.
Death of the nominated Group B person. The employee is allowed to nominate up to two beneficiaries from the Group B eligibility pool to be active at any one time in addition the employee’s Group A beneficiary.
*If the Group B beneficiary purchases a ticket on oneworld carrier/s then that beneficiary can only be changed after 12 months.

Group C Beneficiaries
The employee’s children under the age of 24 years.

Group D Beneficiaries
The employee’s children aged 24 and over.
Children are defined as: Natural, step-children, domestic partner’s children, legally adopted.
